PlayStation Plus Subscriber Numbers Reach 7.9 Million

PlayStation Plus subscriber numbers have climbed all the way to 7.9 million, Sony announced during a recent post-earnings call with investors.

While it's important to note that a lot of the PlayStation 4 bundles that have been released lately include a free trial of the service, it's still quite an impressive figure. Sony struggled against Xbox Live last generation, but with a compelling lineup of free games for members rolling out each month, it's no wonder PS Plus has grown in popularity so quickly.

Let's also not forget that online play is gated behind a PlayStation Plus subscription, something I'm sure pushed many, who would have otherwise been on the fence, over the edge.
