Alan Wake 2 Delays Unlikely as It Is Now ‘Playable From Start to Finish’

Alan Wake 2’s development has been kept quiet since the sequel was announced in 2022. However, today’s investor report from Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that development is in full swing.

Alan Wake 2 still has a release date of 2023

Remedy Entertainment not only noted that “[Alan Wake 2] is playable from start to finish” but that “the game will soon have all content in place.” From there, Remedy states that it will move on to polishing the experience.

Remedy also noted in its investors report how development costs put into Alan Wake 2 had impacted its revenue in Q4 2022, noting that investment into the sequel naturally harmed the company’s profitability. Additionally, Remedy stated that Alan Wake Remastered had not yet generated royalties, but that the company expects the release of Alan Wake 2 to cause many to buy the original game, calling the Alan Wake story a “unique brand.”

Delays are commonplace for AAA video games as developers struggle to hit deadlines imposed by publishers. While Alan Wake 2 has not received a specific release date, the game’s announcement post indicated that the game would release in 2023. However, a planned 2022 showcase of the game never materialized, as the developers stated they’d rather work on game development than make a trailer.

Overall, things look good for the long-awaited sequel to Alan Wake. While we can’t discount the chance of a delay, there is currently no information to indicate the game will release later than expected.
