Microsoft Announces Windows 10

Microsoft has just unveiled its successor to the overwhelmingly disliked Windows 8. The company's new PC operating system is officially called Windows 10. That's right, folks. Apparently the Big M isn't particularly fond of the number 9 for whatever reason.

Here's a look at the incredibly plain and rather uninspired logo:

According to The Verge, Microsoft is calling this its "most comprehensive platform ever." The company's Joe Belfiore explained that the goal is to make the transition to Windows 10 as smooth as possible for PC users, noting that Windows 8 didn't particularly excel in that area. "We want all these Windows 7 users to have the sentiment that yesterday they were driving a first-generation Prius, and now with Windows 10 it's like a Tesla."

The Start Menu and Metro interface have been combined, which could end up being a very good thing… or a very bad thing. Here's to hoping Microsoft delivers a more user friendly experience this time around.
