Happy 27th Birthday, The Legend of Zelda

Nintendo's iconic and dearly beloved fantasy-filled adventure franchise is now 27 years old in North America. The Legend of Zelda series got its start on the original Nintendo Entertainment System and has gone on to see a number of subsequent releases, across both home consoles and handheld devices.

A new entry in the franchise, currently dubbed The Legend of Zelda, is in development for Wii U. In addition, we've heard rumblings of a Majora's Mask remake for Nintendo 3DS, which (in my humble opinion) would be an incredible gift to handheld gamers.

As we celebrate the birth of one of gaming's greatest franchises, let's look back at some of our favorites from The Legend of Zelda series. In the comments below, let us know which Zelda title is your absolute favorite. Mine is undoubtedly Ocarina of Time. Cliché choice, I know.
