New RIME Trailer Features Haunting and Beautiful Art Style

RIME features a impressive-looking open world where players must navigate a third-person adventure and solve puzzles on a mysterious island.

Developer Tequila Works previously released Deadlight, a 2D survival game with a definitively dark backdrop and RIME seems like a new turn for the studio on PlayStation 4. In early design phases, the game was known as Echoes of Siren and included tower defense mechanics during a night cycle.

We don't currently know of any plans for a release on Xbox One, so check out the trailer above and let us know what you think in the comments. It seems to feature elements of adventure and platform design, though I'd hope it veers away from a lot of collecting and continues to lean on the atmosphere in the various environments you see above. The twilight scene in particular looks impressive when contrasted against the tropical sun that bathes much of the island.
