Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition for Xbox One Getting Day-One 1080p Patch

In a statement to GameSpot, Blizzard associate producer Tiffany War has revealed that the Xbox One version of Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition will be upgrading from 900p to 1080p:

The game will be available [in] 1080p on both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Native 1080p resolution. You will need to download the day-one patch for the Xbox One to get that support, but it will be there. We're very happy about that.

When I had my first hands-on experience with the title behind closed doors last week, it was for the PS4 version, mainly because there wasn't an Xbox One build available at the session. They want to give us the best experience possible, after all, and that means something as close to 1080p-ready.

Whatever the case, it's good news for Microsoft that the once-projected 900p output will be patched in time. Other games have not been so lucky with their Xbox One SKU.

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition releases for Xbox One and PS4 in just under two weeks on August 19.
