Dead or Alive 6 PS4 Pro vs Xbox One X

Dead or Alive 6 PS4 Pro mode only outputs 1080p while Xbox One X displays 4K

Team Ninja has revealed the resolution and other graphics settings for Dead or Alive 6, the upcoming fighting game that will be on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game supports Pro and X enhancements, although Dead or Alive 6 PS4 Pro settings are dwarfed by the Xbox One X.

Dead or Alive 6 on PS4 Pro is capped to just 1080p, whereas the game supports 4K on the Xbox One X. That 4K resolution also maintains 60 frames per second on the Xbox One X. Team Ninja revealed the technical specs to wccftech earlier this week.

“PlayStation 4 Pro enables 1080p resolution maintaining the processing speed, and the quality of stages and effects will be higher than on the base PS4,” explained Team Ninja. “On the other hand, the Xbox One X will reach a maximum resolution of 4K which is different from the base Xbox One.”

Team Ninja also detailed some of the shortcomings on the other platforms.

“It’s impossible to maintain 60fps at all times with 4K resolution, but you’ll enjoy beautiful graphics,” read the statement. “There are some options to prioritize graphics or action so you can choose which one you prefer. The game is not compatible with HDR on PC. That being said, Xbox One X is the only platform that allows you to enjoy HDR with this game.”

Dead or Alive 6 is Team Ninja’s second Xbox One outing, and their fifth PS4 release. The massive resolution disparity between the enhanced consoles is a surprising difference in favor of the system Team Ninja has worked less with. But what is perhaps more surprising is that Xbox One X is the only system that supports HDR, as every PS4 supports the option and it shouldn’t degrade performance heavily.

The Dead or Alive 6 PS4 Pro settings suggest a similar profile to Team Ninja’s Nioh. Nioh had multiple settings across the PS4 lineup. On the base systems, which we didn’t learn about for Dead or Alive 6, it had a 60fps at 720p mode and a 30fps at 1080p mode. The PS4 Pro could run Nioh at 1080p 60fps, just like Dead or Alive 6‘s profile on the console. Unlike Dead or Alive 6 PS4 Pro, Nioh could hit a full 4K resolution using the game’s 30fps capped mode. However, it does make sense that Dead or Alive 6, a frenetic fighting game, wouldn’t have an option to halve the frame rate.

Dead or Alive 6 releases on March 1, 2019.
