A new survey conducted by IHS and commissioned by GamesIndustry.biz puts consumer interest in buying a Nintendo Wii U console at a 50% bump following the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, CA.
E3 2014 brought together the biggest names and brands in gaming and that's no truer than in Nintendo's case where Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS stole a fair amount of the spotlight over the course of the company's showing.
"Around one thousand core gamers were surveyed on various purchase intentions before and after the LA show, revealing that, whilst Nintendo's platform started out with the lowest number of people looking at buying it, it saw the biggest benefit from the show's exposure," writes GamesIndustry.
Specifically, about 13-14% of responders said that they intended to buy a Wii U console before E3 while just over 20% of responders said that they'd buy a Wii U console after E3 2014. PlayStation 4 had a much higher intent to buy both before and after E3, but that console saw a slight dip over the course of the conference. Microsoft's Xbox One saw a slightly upward trending in intent to buy.
The survey also found that Batman: Arkham Knight had the highest rate of response from those surveyed with 60% intent to buy (regardless of platform).
