Former Call of Duty Devs Create New Studio, Target VR

There's a new studio in the first-person shooter race, according to a report from IGN, and the team brings the knowledge it takes to be formidable in the forum straight from Infinity Ward.

Calling themselves Reload Studios, the new developer houses twelve employees. The founding team features four members with significant time on their resume developing games for Infinity Ward's Call of Duty series, including James Chung, Taehoon Oh, Pete Blumel, and Hougant Chen. In addition, the team has recruited Nik Ranieri, formerly of Disney, a prolific animator who has worked on a number of Disney animated features including the film that began the Disney Renaissance, The Little Mermaid.

The team looks to be staying with what they know, namely the FPS genre, but appears to not only be targeting next-gen, but virtual reality as well. According to a statement on their website, Taehoon Oh said that gamers "are always looking for something new. Just as smartphones changed the way we live our lives, I am sure VR will change the way people experience media content. As a game developer, this realization compelled me to become part of a new team that focuses on developing VR content."

Reload Studios' first title is slated to launch in 2015. You can keep track of its progress at its website or via Twitter.
