Iwata Believes a Single Game Can Save Wii U

Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata believes that Wii U's fortunes can be turned around; it just needs that one breakout game.

"The fate of a video game system is often influenced greatly by the introduction of a single title," Iwata explained during an investor briefing.

"As many of you probably remember, before the release of the Pokemon game, Game Boy had been showing slow growth, and many people wondered whether it was the end of Game Boy. But the Pokemon game singlehandedly changed the landscape of the system, which then started to show the strongest sales in the lifecycle of the system."

What type of game could pull Wii U out of the sales pit it is currently in? Something tells me Iwata is betting big on NFC, plans for which we'll hear more about at E3.
