Mobile Gaming Gets Crushed by Candy And King.com

The developer behind iPhone gaming phenomenon Candy Crush Saga has reported its revenue stats and apparently hauled in an impressive $606.7 million in the first fiscal quarter of 2014.

That is an insane amount of money for a title that does nothing more than waste time as Bejeweled did, with a few new tricks and a new suit. The formula is readily playable, bite-sized, and perfect for mobile platforms so it's no wonder the brand has done well on word of mouth and light advertising. Getting your game on the top 100 charts in the App Store and keeping it there doesn't hurt either.

In fact, King.com reported that 143 million active users play its games on a daily basis. Three of the company's games were on the top 10 highest grossing app charts on all major platforms, both the Apple App Store and Google Play in the US, in addition to Facebook worldwide.

While Farm Heroes Saga led the company's growth, Candy Crush Saga still pulled its own weight with an increase of 33% versus 22% in the previous quarter.
