Stream Anything Other Than a First-Person Shooter to Support Injured Troops

While there is quite a lot of disagreement surrournding how United States armed forces should be utilized around the world, be it in protecting American business assets or ensuring democratic freedoms, the soldiers who come home from war could still use a boost and that's where the folks at Operation Supply Drop come in.

Operation Supply Drop provides care packages to military troops stationed around the world and now hopes to help wounded soldiers at home. My cousin recently served overseas where soldiers deal with things like burning trash, dust storms, and a lot of boredom. OSD's care packages provide a much needed love note of escapism, but a new live-streaming campaign is seeking participants much like the Extra Life charity.

Operation Supply Drop's 8-Bit Salute goes for 24-hours (because American troops are stationed literally all over the world) and hopes to raise awareness and funds for future supply drops and outreach opportunities.

The group is partnering with Twitch for the streaming campaign held May 17th to 18th. The release states that "Donations raised during this charity event will fund video game care packages, offering much needed diversion and stress-relief to combat-zone deployed troops and those recovering in military hospitals."

Naughty Dog, developers of The Last of Us, and Astro Gaming, whose headsets we love, are signed on to participate, but you can learn more and assemble a fundraising team at Operation Supply Drop's website.
