Former Castlevania Producer Interested in Reviving Metroid

Just a few days ago, famed Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi parted ways with Konami and has since created his own independent studio.

Now that Igarashi is free to spread his wings, there's a possibility that the visionary behind so many classic 2D-platformers will get a chance to work on Metroid—that is, if Nintendo would be willing to place its prized series in his capable hands.

Speaking to IGN at GDC, Igarashi made it clear that he'd be more than interested in reviving the bounty-hunting series if Nintendo gave him the green light. "Whether it’s possible or not comes down to the [intellectual property] holder, which in this case would be Nintendo, and whether they want to work with me," he explained. "But, if they did want to work with me, I would love the chance of doing that."

Would you like to see a Metroid game developed by Igarashi's new studio?
