God of War Director Leaves Sony Santa Monica

Stig Asmussen, a developer who was heavily involved in the God of War trilogy, has parted ways with Sony's Santa Monica Studio.

Sony confirmed his departure to IGN, saying, "SCEA can confirm that Stig Asmussen is no longer with Santa Monica Studio."

Asmussen worked on the original PS2 title as an environment artist, the sequel as Art Director, and God of War III as Creative Director. Instead of getting involved in the development of last year's prequel entry God of War: Ascension, Asmussen went off to begin work on a completely new project; one that is thought to be canceled following the recent bout of layoffs at the studio.
