Prepare for the Return of Lightning With This Final Fantasy XIII Retro-Spective

Square Enix has released a new trailer that recaps the events of Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, providing gamers with a primer for the upcoming release of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

In quite a genius move, the studio decided to play to gamers' nostalgia by retelling the events of the first two games in the FFXIII trilogy in classic 16-bit form. I don't know about you, but this totally drums up warm memories of playing Final Fantasy III (or FFVI in Japan) on the Super Nintendo.

That said, good luck following the plot. If anything, this trailer only serves to re-emphasize how ridiculous the narrative of this trilogy has become.
