crazy buttocks on a train is the internet handle of an individual more popularly known as CBOAT, a video game industry insider with a history for correctly scooping the news video game companies don't want you to know about.

Today, CBOAT posted a screen capture of a PowerPoint presentation slide (seen above) that suggests that Valve's Source 2.0 engine has been shown to other developers and business partners.

More specifically, the slides show different renders of the Plantation level in Left 4 Dead 2 "Rebuilt in Source 2.0 with increased level of detail". Other slides seen in the panel to the left are labeled "Distance shot in L4D2", "Porch shot in L4D2", and at the bottom "Redesigned tools & workflow".

These slides could be from the recent Steam Developer Days conference held by Valve where Steam partners can visit the studio and check out where the company is headed next. These slides could also be totally fabricated too, but crazy buttocks on a train has been proven right in the past.

While unconfirmed rumors and heresay are the best reason to visit NeoGAF, the moderators there generally follow up with posters like CBOAT before allowing misinformation to hang around and plague the community. CBOAT has previously had insider information about Sony and Microsoft consoles, in addition to game-specific leaks and more.

Regardless, the depth of this particular leak remains extremely shallow. Valve fans have been dying for information regarding the future of the Half-Life series, but have instead been treated to hoaxes and false-alarms.

Last year, PC Gamer teased Valve-related news that wound up leaving fans wanting. Additionally in 2013, Half-Life 3 trademarks whipped the community into frenzy though the fervor amounted to no news about the franchise. In fact, the only relevant news on Half-Life 3 (or Half-Life 2: Episode 3) was last heard directly from Valve boss Gabe Newell way back in 2012.

While this particular CBOAT sighting reveals no more than that Valve is working on a next-generation engine, it does give fans the kind of info-drip they need to continue salivating at even the potential for Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, and more new software from Valve's beloved properties.
