A Stalker 2 delay is looking likely after customers received messages from the Xbox Store stating their pre-orders had been canceled. These messages reportedly state that the game had been pushed back to an “unconfirmed date in the future.”
Stalker 2 release date is now ‘unconfirmed’
Stalker 2 was initially set to launch in April 2022, before being pushed back to December 2022, and then a vague release window of 2023. Now it seems that this release window has been pushed back even further, with no confirmed release date being given. The messages, shared by XGP, inform those who pre-ordered the game that they will be reimbursed, and the pre-order button on the Xbox storefront has also been removed.
The first-person shooter sequel is being developed by Ukrainian studio GSC Game World, a Kyiv-based developer. In March 2022, Czech site Vortex reported that several of the studio’s employees had relocated to Prague amid Ukraine’s war with Russia. In June 2022, GSC posted a harrowing dev diary in June that outlined its team’s experience with creating a game while their country was under attack. In the diary, several GSC Game World employees were shown volunteering to fight in the war.
Stalker 2 is eventually set to launch on Xbox consoles and PC.
