Quantic Dream’s Under The Waves Coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox, and PC

Quantic Dream revealed their new game, Under The Waves, at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The new narrative-driven adventure game developed in partnership with Parallel Studio features a man trying to overcome his traumatic past and save his own life, especially as he finds himself in danger deep underwater far from the surface. The game will be coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

The story of Quantic Dream’s Under the Waves

Under the Waves is set during a techno-futuristic 1970s era. Stan is a deep sea diver piloting a submersible vehicle deep beneath the surface of the North Sea. While stuck in self-imposed solitude in the depths of the ocean, he’s left to contemplate a life-changing loss and the new future that means. Then he starts to experience strange events that put his life in genuine danger, not knowing whether he’ll ever see the surface again.

Players will be able to explore the abyss at the bottom of the ocean, making their way through caves, wrecks, and submerged plants that will hide salvageable waste that Stan can use to craft equipment to help his chances of survival. These areas also hide backstory pieces and collectibles that will expand upon the story.

While we’ll have to wait for more news on Under The Waves, Quantic Dream and Parallel Studio revealed they have teamed up with Surfrider Foundation Europe, a non-profit association responsible for the protection of oceans. The duo will use the game to promote ocean conservation through the sea life in the game and subtle messages Stan can find.

In other gaming news, the mysterious Dune game has been revealed as survival MMO Dune: Awakening and players can sign up now for the beta. Elsewhere, the open-world sandbox game Everywhere was announced with a release date window of 2023.
