Dune: Awakening beta announced alongside trailer

A Dune: Awakening beta sign-up is available. Unfortunately, dates haven’t been announced yet. However, the official website gives us an idea of what gameplay will be like.

This is a survival MMO, so players must build shelters to survive sandstorms, and water will likely be a major resource. You’ll need to maintain your stillsuit to stay hydrated or end up a nasty, desiccated corpse in the endless desert.

Exploration will be a significant gameplay element. You’ll need to scavenge the wreckage of spaceships and abandoned settlements so you can build your own fortress.

Of course, this is Dune, so spice will play a big part in the overall picture. You’ll need to obtain and deploy a harvester and protect it from rivals. Once you get spice, you’ll be able to use it to acquire powerful abilities.

However, we don’t know how all this will fit together. I’m picturing something like Conan: Exiles or Arc: Survival Evolved, but it’s anyone’s guess right now.
