A Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leak claims that Ed Sheeran might be a possible composer for an in-game song. Even if that’s not the case, the leaker suggests that Sheeran’s cameo at the 2022 Pokemon World Championships in London is more substantial than just a special welcome message. In fact, whatever Sheeran did for the upcoming Pokemon game is “a big surprise.”
Is this Ed Sheeran Pokemon Scarlet and Violet leak true?
– Apparently Ed Sheeran did something for #ScarletViolet (maybe an in-game song?). "It's a big surprise" the leaker said. pic.twitter.com/D2hrqBjwNO

It’s difficult to say whether this leak is true or false, particularly because the timing is suspect. The official account for The Pokemon Company posted a tweet with Ed Sheeran’s message at 9 am on August 18, 2022. The eighteen-second video shows Sheeran wishing the competitors good luck, with various stuffed animals of Pokemon in the background. Then about 30 minutes later, Twitter user @CentroLeaks posted a tweet (noted above) surmising that the singer-songwriter could be making an in-game song for the game.
On its face, it might be quite strange that Ed Sheeran of all people would be involved with Pokemon at all. But he was featured in a performance for Pokemon Go in November 2021 that had him sing some songs from his new album. So the idea that he has a track in the upcoming game or that he might have a cameo in the adventure is believable, like how he randomly appeared in Game of Thrones as a Lannister soldier who serenaded Arya Stark. CentroLeaks is also fairly credible as a reporter of news and leaks for all things Pokemon, with this rumor on Sheeran being the fifteenth tweet in a long thread of alleged leaks on the game.

On the flipside, the “big surprise” could just have been the welcome message. Yes, that would be deflating, but Nintendo may have just wanted to show off Sheeran for a hot second as a power move. Even if the singer is involved in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it will likely be in a loose way that has little to do with the gameplay.
In other news, the High on Life release date has been delayed to squash some bugs, and an Xbox free game deal includes Elden Ring, Saints Row, and Madden NFL 23.
