Ryan Gosling will join Margot Robbie in the cast of the upcoming Ocean’s 11 prequel. In May 2022, a prequel to the iconic heist movie series was announced, which will be set in ’60s-era Europe, decades before the films with George Clooney. As there is a good amount of time before the movie is released, here is the latest news surrounding the cast of this upcoming film.
Ocean’s 11 prequel cast
According to a report from Puck News, Ryan Gosling has agreed to star in the prequel to Ocean’s 11. When the project was first announced earlier this year, it was revealed that Margot Robbie will star in and produce the project. This film would reunite Gosling and Robbie after they are set to co-star in the upcoming Warner Bros. movie Barbie.
The film is set to be directed by Jay Roach, who has previously directed films such as the Austin Powers series, Meet the Parents, and most recently, Bombshell, where he collaborated with Robbie. The screenplay will be written by Carrie Solomon and is rumored to connect to the original 1960 film Ocean’s 11, which starred the Rat Pack.
This news comes in the midst of many new developments at Warner Bros., a studio that is aiming to focus their attention on big-budget theatrical films. This upcoming prequel will feature a larger budget than the George Clooney/Brad Pitt trilogy and the Sandra Bullock spin-off, which was released in 2018. As it is set decades before the other films in the series, it is unlikely any of the existing stars will return, which is why Robbie and Gosling are the two A-list actors that this movie needed to be a box office success. There is no official release date for the Ocean’s 11 prequel yet.
In other news, Viola Davis has joined the cast of the upcoming Hunger Games prequel, and the High on Life release date has been delayed.
