A Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct has been announced by Nintendo of America. In just a couple of days, on August 10 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET, a 30-minute Direct presentation for Splatoon 3 will reveal more details for the upcoming third-person shooter. The livestream will be available on Nintendo’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.

Apart from Nintendo hinting in the tweet above that we’re going to hear about more Splatlands, the new in-game hub for Splatoon 3, the Switch maker has been tight-lipped on what will be shown. Given that the livestream will be 30 minutes long and we’re only a month away from the release date of September 9, a deep-dive into the game is expected.
It’s possible that we might hear about a short Testfire beta before launch, as it’s typically done before the release of a game in the series. We might also hear whether we’ll be getting new commentators or if Pearl and Marina will make a return. Beyond that, we might get a sneak peek at some of the weapons and special abilities in the multiplayer modes. As revealed from multiple presentations on Splatoon 3 since it was announced last year, the squid-based shooter will feature a returning co-op mode called Salmon Run in addition to a single-player campaign called “Return of the Mammalians.”
On Thursday last week, it was revealed that the Nintendo Switch OLED Splatoon 3 Edition will be the only Nintendo console released for this fiscal year. Apparently, no new Nintendo hardware is planned before March 2023, which would squash rumors of a Switch Pro or Switch 2. This colorful special edition Splatoon 3 Switch will include a docking station with Inklings and Octolings, a Splatoon-skinned carrying case, and appropriately themed Pro Controller. The console will release on August 26, a few weeks ahead of the game’s launch.
