Pokemon Go Players Offered Compensation for Facebook Login Issues Today

The Pokemon Go servers seemed to go down earlier today, meaning the game’s login services were not working. The login issues include being unable to authenticate with Facebook, creating an error that meant some players attending the Pokemon Go Fest Seattle event would have struggled to enjoy the festivities and will be offered compensation as a result.

Pokemon Go servers are now functioning again

Pokemon Go Facebook Login Issues Compensation

Niantic Support explained that while the servers mostly remained functional, they’d had problems with Facebook login not working. While Facebook was not down, the login outage would not let those who authenticate through Facebook to sign in to the game. The problem is that those players also couldn’t log out, meaning their app was not working for approximately an hour. Niantic now says that as of an hour ago, Facebook login was available once again and that “to avoid related issues in the future, please consider adding an additional login provider to your account.” They provide a guide on how to do this at their support site.

Most server status sites are still reporting issues, but most players should now be able to log in. The outage came at the worst possible time for players attending the Pokemon Go Fest: Seattle event today, July 22. As such, all players who held Friday tickets for the Pokemon Go Fest event will be offered compensation regardless of whether they suffered Facebook login issues or not. This comes in the form of a free bundle from the in-app Shop that contains 1 Star Piece, 1 Lucky Egg, and 1 Super Incubator.

The Pokemon Go Fest: Seattle city event experience has also been extended for an additional two hours from 7-9 pm PT, while there will be a bonus city session from 9-11 am PT tomorrow, July 23, throughout Seattle. Finally, Niantic added that those who could not complete the park experience Special Research because of the issues today will find their tasks updated on July 25 to become “tasks that can be completed from wherever you are.”

In other news, Hell Let Loose has got a free weekend ongoing on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Elsewhere, Square Enix will be launching Final Fantasy VII NFTs next year.
