The creator of the wildly successful indie game Minecraft just donated $10,000 to the Awesome Games Done Quick 2014 gaming marathon collecting money to fund cancer prevention.
The Awesome Games Done Quick marathon occurs every year and is organized by the community at SpeedDemosArchive, and while Minecraft wasn't originally on the docket for a speed run the game's creator fixed that with a sizeable donation.
Marcus "Notch" Persson donated ten grand to ensure that the organizers would play Minecraft on their stream. At the time of donation, over 80,000 people were watching the stream on Twitch.Tv and the chat naturally exploded with emoticons of Minecraft's green Creeper enemy.
Notch said that his donation went towards ensuring his own game met the goal set by stream organizers. These donation goals have also pushed the speed-gamers to play under certain conditions, like beating Super Mario Bros without powerups or finishing a game with no shirt on.
You can watch the stream above, but earlier the stream took a brief pause after a fire alarm was pulled. Be sure to stick with GameRevolution for more.
