Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers have gotten another Nintendo 64 game today after Pokemon Snap became the latest title to be added to the library. The Pokemon game has become the 16th N64 game to be included in the Expansion Pack and joins 25 SEGA Genesis games and DLC for Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Pokemon Snap is available now
Pokemon Snap was added to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack today, June 24. The game is a rail shooter with a difference. As Todd Snap travels around Pokémon Island, he needs to use props like apples and pester balls to tempt different creatures into the ideal position to take a photo. At the end of each visit to the island, his photos are rated by Professor Oak who will include them in his Pokémon Report as long as the size, pose, technique, and number of Pokémon captured are sufficient. The only problem is you’ll no longer be able to print your photos as stickers at Pokemon Snap Stations.
The game joins the Nintendo 64 Collection alongside titles like F-Zero X, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Lylat Wars, Banjo-Kazooie, and Mario Golf. No other Pokemon games are available through either the base Nintendo Switch Online service or the Expansion Pack at the moment, but if the rumored Game Boy and Game Boy Advance emulators are indeed coming to Nintendo Switch, there’s a chance for some of the mainline games to join the service in the future.
In other gaming news, Aspyr Media has offered a workaround for Switch players caught out by the crash bug in Star Wars KOTOR 2 that prevents them from finishing the game. Elsewhere, the Steam Summer Sale has introduced a Clorthax game and we have all of the clues, answers, and rewards.
