Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) 2 was released on Nintendo Switch earlier this month, and players were quick to notice a pretty major problem. The game will crash after a cutscene midway through the game making it impassable, and while developer Aspyr Media looks to fix the issue, they’ve offered a workaround so players can complete Star Wars KOTOR 2.
How to fix the Star Wars KOTOR 2 crash bug
Aspyr Media’s workaround involves using the game’s cheat function. Star Wars KOTOR 2 Nintendo Switch players may find the game can crash as they land on Onderon after the Basilisk Crash cutscene. This crash is pretty unavoidable, meaning that part is impassable and players can’t complete the game. If this crash is encountered, players can get past it by triple-clicking the left joystick to open the cheats menu, selecting “Warp”, and then warping to “OND504”. This means players warp past the crash point and can continue playing their game. The developer told Eurogamer they are currently working on a more permanent fix:
“We’re aware of an issue that is preventing some Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords players from advancing in the game. Our data suggests that this is only affecting a small number of users but please rest assured that we’re working on a patch to fix it. For users who have encountered this issue please visit our FAQ for temporary workarounds and follow @AspyrMedia on Twitter for updates.”
There is no estimated timeframe for the patch’s release at the time of writing.
