Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will be released at the end of this month but for those who can’t wait that long, there’s a demo coming to Nintendo Switch and Steam tomorrow. During the Capcom Showcase, the team also revealed new content that will be included in the DLC as well as details of future title updates.

Trying Sunbreak before its release in the new demo

The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak demo will be available tomorrow, June 14, on Nintendo Switch and Steam. The demo will let solo players or groups of up to four players into the jungle locale to battle several of the game’s monsters. Beginners will face a Great Izuchi, Intermediate players get a Tetranadon, and Expert players take on an Astalos. Brand new players can get to grips with the Wyvern riding, basics, and switch skill swap training quests. On the other end of the scale, there’s an advanced quest to take down Malzeno too. All quests can be repeated as many times as players please.

Several of the DLC’s new features were revealed during the show too. Jungle is a returning locale that originally debuted in the second generation of Monster Hunter games. The locale’s appearance will change over time, as well as having new elements and endemic life, but it promises to be somewhere both new players and franchise fans can enjoy. In terms of monsters, Espinas returns from the Monster Hunter Frontier series and Gore Magala makes the journey from Monster Hunter 4. The Daimyo Hermitaur and Pyre Rakna-Kadaki are both new monsters due to make their debut.

Those wanting to head straight into Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak on June 30 need to make sure they’ve completed the 7* Hub Quest “Serpent Goddess of Thunder”. Those not grabbing the DLC will still get a 13GB title update on the same day. The first DLC post-launch update will add the Lucent Nargacuga, several other rare species and special species monsters, and the Forlorn Arena in August. Future updates will then add more monsters.

In other news, Vin Diesel reckons you can only be a real gamer if you’re excited about ARK 2. Elsewhere, Pokemon voice actor Billy Kametz has died at the age of 35 after a short illness.
