Xbox and Hideo Kojima are working together on a brand new game, it was revealed today. According to the Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator, his new project is something that players will have “never experienced before.”
What is Hideo Kojima’s new Xbox game?
Kojima revealed that his team at Kojima Productions has a new game in the works at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, though the legendary developer stopped short of formally revealing it.
Xbox tweeted that the game will be “leveraging the cloud” to create something innovative and unlike anything players have seen before, though no trailer was shown during the event. Instead, Kojima was introduced by Xbox’s Phil Spencer, before briefly outlining his partnership with the company and teasing what the new project will entail.

Kojima Productions’ mysterious next project could be the horror game that was reportedly leaked earlier this month. Codenamed ‘Overdose,’ the new game is said to star Death Stranding actress Margaret Qualley, who portrayed Mama in Kojima’s previous game.
Kojima is also said to be working on Death Stranding 2, with actor Norman Reedus stating that he had just started work on the as-yet-unannounced sequel. However, given that this is a brand new game from Kojima, it’s highly unlikely that this is what he’s working on with Xbox. The developer said that he’d have more to reveal in the future, so we’ll just have to wait it out for more information related to the project.
In other news, Forza Motorsport 8 was also revealed during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, showing off some hugely impressive visuals in the process. A major new partnership between Riot Games and Xbox was also announced, bringing exclusive deals to Game Pass for the likes of League of Legends and Valorant.
