Rumors of FIFA 22 making an appearance on EA Play soon have gathered momentum once again after it was revealed one of the earlier games in the franchise, FIFA 20, will be leaving the service soon. The latter game will be removed at the start of July, although many are expecting FIFA 22 to be added later this month.
When will FIFA 22 be released on EA Play?
FIFA 22 will be released on EA Play but EA has not given us a specific release date yet. Many players believed the game would be joining the service at the start of May when it appeared on the Xbox Game Pass section of the Xbox store in several European countries while displaying an EA Play banner. This has since been removed but some feel that the game’s appearance is still overdue, seeing as FIFA 21 joined the service on May 6, 2021. Having said that, FIFA 20 didn’t join the service, which was previously known as EA Access, until September 24, 2019, so there’s still time.
Other games that have recently departed the service included NHL 20 which left on June 1 and was replaced with NHL 22 a couple of weeks beforehand on May 12. F1 2018 left EA Play on April 18, having earlier been replaced with F1 2021 on March 24. FIFA 20 will leave the service on July 1, 2022; using the same pattern this would indicate FIFA 22 will become available for EA Play subscribers anytime between now and the middle of June. When FIFA 20 leaves EA Play, this will mean the online servers will still be available and no features will be shut down, just that the game will not be available through EA Play or Xbox Game Pass.
In other news, rumors claim a new Hideo Kojima game called Overdose is being developed alongside Death Stranding 2. Elsewhere, Battlefield 2042 Season One: Zero Hour is finally arriving later this week with a new Specialist, map, vehicles, weapons, and Battle Pass.
