Nintendo Switch Online will occasionally offer a 7-day trial to give players a chance to try out the online service before they buy. This trial has now returned to the eShop, allowing players another chance to play multiplayer online, access the NES and SNES online catalog, and download exclusive in-game content and free multiplayer games like Tetris 99.
Downloading the Nintendo Switch Online trial
The free Nintendo Switch trial is available for all players, even those who have already used a 7-day trial before. When accessing the Nintendo eShop on a Switch console, the trial can be accessed under the Nintendo Switch Online option in the left menu. The trials are usually only available on the eStore for a limited period of time, but Nintendo hasn’t provided a date for when the trial will be removed, meaning it could be a permanent addition this time.
Nintendo Switch Online allows access to online multiplayer modes in all titles like Nintendo Switch Sports, Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. There are also titles exclusive to NSO members, such as Tetris 99 and Pac-Man 99, as well as in-game content like Gem Apples for Super Kirby Clash and the Spirit Training Set 2 for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. The current game trial for Spelunky 2 is available until tomorrow, May 31, while there is also the exclusive Mario Strikers: Battle League demo that can be downloaded right now. Finally, players get access to the entire SNES and NES library including new titles Congo’s Caper, Rival Turf!, and Pinball that were added to the service on May 26.
In other news, Activision Blizzard’s shareholders have been urged not to re-elect Bobby Kotick and five other directors who failed to address the company’s sexual harassment crisis. Elsewhere, a Steam Deck and SteamOS update has made Remote Play Together “completely functional” on the device.
