Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis is slated to release in FY2022, according to CyberAgent’s latest financial report. Ever Crisis is being developed by CyberAgent subsidiary Applibot in conjunction with Square Enix and was counted among the projects that would be released before the start of FY2023 in October 2022.
Financial report gives us a window for Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis release date
If Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis is slated to launch in FY2022, its release date is sometime between now and September 30, 2022. Given that it’s a mobile game, we may get little to no warning of its launch. While it’s ostensibly a large project, we’ve heard almost nothing about it since it was announced alongside Final Fantasy 7: Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier.
Fans of Final Fantasy 7 have a lot to be excited about with Ever Crisis (at least on paper). It’ll contain a more faithful remake of the core game and will eventually include renditions of Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, and Advent Children. It’ll also mark the first time that Before Crisis is released outside of Japan. Original scenarios are planned as well, which will expand the series canon.
Of course, there’s a significant downside to Ever Crisis. It’s only slated for release on Android and iOS, and it’s free-to-play and supported by loot boxes that contain weapons and costumes. Unfortunately, those elements might be so obnoxious that they outweigh the game’s high points.
Square Enix hasn’t been on the top of its game lately, but the Final Fantasy franchise seems to be weathering the storm well. However, the quality of games it’s been putting its name on has been so erratic that we don’t have the highest hopes for Ever Crisis. Hopefully, it ends up surprising us in a good way.
In other news, Starfield and Redfall are delayed into 2023, and Microsoft confirms Ubisoft+ is coming to Game Pass.
