Halo Infinite Update April 2022

Halo Infinite April 2022 Update Changes Sudden Death Rules

Developer 343 Industries has released the Halo Infinite April 2022 update before the second multiplayer season arrives in May. While the patch fixes some pressing issues facing the game, it more importantly changes the rules for its popular Capture the Flag game mode.

What is in the Halo Infinite April 2022 update patch notes?

As an addendum to the season 1 mid-season update, this patch that releases today will be approximately 1.3GB for all platforms and primarily alters the Sudden Death trigger for Halo Infinite’s Capture the Flag mode. Now, Sudden Death will only occur if “the round timer has expired and an outcome-affecting flag is away from its base.” In other words, if there’s still a flag in contention that could alter the final score even after the clock has run out, Sudden Death will trigger.

The timer for Sudden Death will also pause if such an outcome-affecting flag is being contests and will reset itself if that flag is picked up. Once there are no flags away from their base, Sudden Death will end immediately. This change will apply across the board in normal or Overtime rounds, in Arena or Ranked variants, in multiplayer matchmaking or custom games.

In addition, the Halo Infinite April 2022 update will no long place Power Seeds in impossible-to-reach areas of the map. The Post-Game Carnage Report (PGCR) will now show match statistics in multiplayer LAN matches. The patch will also make it easier for players to join Fireteams and accept invites while they are in a suspended state on Xbox consoles. An earlier patch for Halo Infinite in mid-March improved PC stability and allowed LAN servers to be started from the in-game menus.

However, at the start of April, 343 Industries community manager Brian Jarrard apologized on Reddit for the lack of updates and admitted that the Halo community was “out of patience.” Fans still await the long-anticipated Forge mode and the ability to play co-op in the game’s campaign.

In other news, this month’s games for Xbox Game Pass have been revealed, and the next Tomb Raider game will be built on Unreal Engine 5.
