Babylon's Fall Shutdown Square Enix Platinum games

Square Enix Has “No Plans” to Abandon Babylon’s Fall

Square Enix and Platinum Games are sticking with Babylon’s Fall through thick and thin despite the game’s awful launch with fans and critics alike. Not only are there no plans to shut down Babylon’s Fall, but the content for the next few seasons are already done and there’s even a Nier Automata collaboration to arrive soon.

Babylon’s Fall shutdown not even a thought

Posting an image tweet that asks whether the continuing service of Babylon’s Fall is “in danger,” Square Enix insists that everything is going forward as planned:

“No, there are no plans to reduce the scale of development on Babylon’s Fall. Content up to the end of Season 2 is now practically complete and we have started work on Season 3 and beyond.

We will continue to provide new content for the game and make improvements based on player feedback.”

As part of the plan to revitalize the game, Square Enix has already put out a survey requesting fan feedback on the graphics. In an official post that more fully details the upcoming features for Babylon’s Fall, it will introduce a new Duels game mode, add an additional story called Resurgence, and rebalanced quests so that enemies are less powerful for solo play.

In effect, Square Enix hopes that it can revive the game in similar fashion to FFXIV with multiple patches; that is, before its far more successful relaunch as A Realm Reborn.

However, at the time of this writing, Babylon’s Fall currently has a Metascore of 42 and an overall user score of 2.0/10, making it one of the lowest-rated PS5 exclusives to date and likely one of the worst-scored AAA games this year. According to SteamDB, the game has struggled to maintain a concurrent player count more than 400 players.

In other news, some Mario Kart 8 tracks have been leaked, and the community manager for Hogwarts Legacy has confirmed that it will not feature any microtransactions.
