Hogwarts Legacy Getting Its Own State of Play This Thursday

Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. Games, will be getting its very own PlayStation State of Play presentation, which will air on March 17 at 2PM PT (5 PM ET / 10 PM CET). Lasting for the whole dedicated 20 minutes, with over 14 minutes captured on the PS5, the presentation is a much longer in-depth look inside the finally-realized, much-anticipated game world of Harry Potter, particularly after the official reveal trailer has received over 28 million views.

Details on Hogwarts Legacy State of Play

According to the official PlayStation blog post, the presentation will end with a short segment where a few developers at Avalanche Software will provide insight into Hogwarts Legacy. After the State of Play ends, more details will be released on the PlayStation blog that won’t be in the presentation.

As revealed by the premiere trailer, Hogwarts Legacy promises to be an open-world experience that will have you be able to attend as a witch or wizard and explore the magical halls of the academy. This comes complete with being sorted into one of the four Houses, learn magical abilities, make friendships, tame magical beasts (you can even ride a hippogriff), and learn from a cast of demanding professors. You’ll face off against trolls and dragons, blasting spells from your wand and delving into dungeons surrounding the school that have been lying dormant.

The controversial author of Harry Potter, JK Rowling, has no involvement with the game’s development, but will still contractually receive royalties from any media that uses the Wizarding World IP.

The last State of Play aired on March 9th and showcased a catalog of games from Japanese developers including Capcom’s dinosaur-hunting Exoprimal, the Ascension update for Returnal, and Square Enix’s Valkyrie Elysium. In other news, Microsoft and EA both oppose the anti-trans bill in Texas, and the Steam game Domina has been review-bombed for having an anti-mask rant in its patch notes.
