The latest Xbox Insider Ring update arrived yesterday for Alpha and Alpha – Skip Ahead tiers, and the main fixes seemed to be with issues installing games or playing games from disc. However, one of the changes not included in the patch notes for either Xbox Insider tier was that the update completely removes the ability to share Game DVR clips and screenshots to Twitter.
Xbox Insider Alpha Ring March 7 Patch Notes
The latest update for Xbox Insider Alpha Ring and Alpha – Skip Ahead Ring arrived yesterday, March 7. The patch notes described how players should now be able to launch all games on disc even if the console is in offline mode, and addressed the 0xd05e0103 error message some were seeing while trying to install games. Local language support was also improved, although there were warnings that some “odd” text may still appear, usually text that is still waiting to be translated into the correct language.
Alpha Ring Insiders also got fixes for stuttering or poor playback when using streaming apps. However, one of the changes noticed by Windows Central was that all Twitter Game DVR sharing for both game clips and screenshots has been removed from the Xbox dashboard. Right now, players can still link their Xbox Live accounts to their Twitter account, but all this will do is to display their Twitter handle on their Xbox Live profile.
It’s unknown whether this is a deliberate change or a mistake. Microsoft has been known to remove features from their dashboard before due to their “low usage”, but seeing as this feature is commonly used by many, including some high profile Xbox team members, it seems like a bit of a strange decision. Microsoft is yet to comment on the change.
In other news, Twitch has become the latest company to review their business with Russia following their invasion of Ukraine. This means Twitch streamers within the country will not receive payments until the US economic sanctions are lifted. Elsewhere, the much-delayed Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire has finally been canceled for Nintendo Switch.
