The Kirby and the Forgotten Land free demo has landed on Nintendo Switch today, March 3, for those who want to try before they buy. If that isn’t enough, there’s also an overview video showing nearly six minutes of gameplay footage as the commentator explains exactly what players can expect from the full game when it’s released later this month.
What’s included in the Kirby and the Forgotten Land demo?
The Kirby and the Forgotten Land demo begins after Kirby is sucked through a portal in the stormy sky and finds himself washed up on a beach in a mysterious world. The demo includes three of the game’s stages. Each of these can be played in single player or in local co-op for two players. The demo can also be played in two modes. There’s Spring Breeze mode for those new to action games where Kirby has a lot of health in case of mishaps. The second mode is Wild mode, which is “a bit wilder and more challenging” but will give players plenty of Star Coins as a reward.
As well as the demo, Nintendo has released a lengthy overview video explaining what to expect from Kirby’s first venture into 3D. Kirby finds himself battling the Beast Pack in a mission to save the kidnapped Waddle Dees. The video details the abandoned world where remnants of humanity have been overrun by nature. While it all looks fairly harmless, there are plenty of gigantic enemies who don’t want Kirby around. Kirby can inhale some of the smaller enemies to gain abilities to help him explore and defeat others, including some new abilities like Drill and Ranger. There’s also a look at Mouthful mode, the safe hub of Waddle Dee Town, and co-op play.
In other news, Nintendo Switch Online has added weekly missions that award My Nintendo Platinum Points and can be redeemed for rewards, including the exclusive icon elements. Elsewhere, George R.R. Martin has described how the extremely positive Elden Ring reviews are music to his ears.
