Nintendo Switch Online Gets Missions and Rewards for My Nintendo Platinum Points

Missions and rewards have been added to Nintendo Switch Online, giving players a chance to complete tasks and earn My Nintendo Platinum Points to spend on exclusive rewards. The rewards include new icon elements that can be put together to create more personalized user icons.

What are icon elements?

Icon elements are different parts of a user icon, such as frames, characters, and background elements, that can be put together to create your own unique user icon. Nintendo promises to introduce a different theme every month and the icon elements will change each week at 6 PM PDT on Monday.

At the moment, the two themes are Super Mario Odyssey and residents in Animal Crossing: New Horizons who have birthdays in March. Both themes are available until 6 PM PDT on April 4. According to images within Nintendo’s announcement, future element themes will include Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda.

Other rewards that can be gained from the weekly missions include digital wallpapers and physical items from the My Nintendo Store. Nintendo seems to be keeping the missions fairly simple at the moment and are focusing on things players are likely to naturally do anyway. Example weekly missions included using the Nintendo Switch Online app, playing an online game, backing up save data to the cloud, playing Game Trials software, and playing a featured NES title.

In other news, George R.R. Martin has called the Elden Ring reviews music to his ears following the overwhelmingly positive reception the game has received since its release last week. Elsewhere, Xbox Game Pass will be getting seven more titles throughout the first two weeks of March including Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. The list also includes Lawn Mowing Simulator on Xbox One, which had been delayed from the end of February for unknown reasons.
