Steam Next Fest: February 2022 Edition has launched today, bringing hundreds of demos and “oodles” of livestreams to Steam for the next seven days. All of the games involved in this Steam Next Fest are due to be released between February 28 and September 1, 2022, so now is possibly your last chance to get a sneak preview before they hit the Steam Store.
When does Steam Next Fest end?
Steam Next Fest began today, February 21, and will run until 10AM PST on February 28. The event once again gives players a chance to preview many upcoming games, either through watching developer hands-off demos while asking questions through livechat, or by trying the games out for themselves. Meanwhile, developers get the chance to reach thousands of gamers to get feedback about their upcoming titles. The trailer gives just a tiny preview of the many hundreds of games available to try throughout the week.
Several games are already proving quite popular, popping up in the lists of most wishlisted games, most popular upcoming titles, and the list of those with the highest daily demo player counts. Those proving popular today include farming sim The Wandering Village where toxic spores have devastated the planet and the remaining survivors aim to build a colony on the back of a giant wandering creature. Crowz is a multiplayer team-based first-person shooter where players take on missions as hired mercenaries known as CROWs. Core Keeper is a mining sandbox adventure for up to eight players as they create their own self-sustaining underground home while trying to solve the mystery of an ancient Core.
Demos can be downloaded throughout the week and will remain on your PC once the event ends. However, like previous events, most of the demos will become inaccessible once the event ends, so if there’s anything you’re dying to check out it’s better to do it sooner rather than later.
In other news, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will join the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack later this week. Elsewhere, Horizon Forbidden West has topped the UK sales chart after an incredibly successful opening weekend.
