Doom Eternal Ranger Slayer

Doom Eternal x Quake crossover sees Ranger enter the hellscape

A Doom Eternal Ranger Slayer leak has seemingly confirmed a Doom x Quake crossover, bringing id Software’s two most beloved FPS franchises together (sorry, Rage). While Doom Eternal is a year and a half old and it’s been over six months since the final Ancient Gods Part 2 expansion’s release, there’s still regular content coming to the game such as today’s Horde Mode — but a Doom Eternal Quake Ranger skin is something that’s long overdue.

Quake crossover confirmed by Doom Eternal Ranger Slayer leak

Doom Eternal Ranger Slayer

A Doom Eternal x Quake crossover is seemingly happening soon thanks to a leak by Twitter user YoshiGa8, who uncovered a new Master Collection skin for Doom Eternal’s Slayer in the game’s files for this week’s 6.66 update.

The Ranger skin can be seen below, as like all the game’s skins id Software has designed it like an action figure box. It includes the Quake symbol, just to make it completely official, and also includes a Quake-style Slipgate background for Doom Eternal’s main menu. The equipment shoulder launcher is even modeled like Quake 1’s grenade launcher, which is a neat touch. Of further note is the HD Ranger picture on the side of the “box,” which has only been used before in one place — attached to this month’s patch for Quake remastered.

While there’s no news when id Software will make the Ranger Slayer skin available in Doom Eternal, either to buy like some previous skins or to be earned by the community, it will likely be soon as the brand new Horde Mode is available today along with a big update for Doom Eternal. Presumably the Quake skin will be available on all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch version. Alternately, id Software might just make it available to anyone who owns the recently released Quake remaster, so it’s well worth picking up.
