Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition isn’t quite as definitive as it first sounds. Although Rockstar Games’ remaster collection includes the mainline PS2 trilogy, it doesn’t feature GTA Vice or Liberty City Stories remasters. Both of these prequels would debut on PSP before making the jump to PlayStation 2, yet neither will make the transition to modern consoles as part of the upcoming collection. Vice City Stories remastered and a Liberty City Stories remaster aren’t coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Is there a GTA: Liberty City Stories – Definitive Edition remaster?
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories – Definitive Edition isn’t part of the GTA Trilogy remaster collection. Rockstar and Grove Street Games are only remastering GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas for current platforms.
Although the name (Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy) indicates that just the three mainline games are present, as a result, the collection won’t tell the full saga. GTA: LCS is a prequel to GTA III, featuring the same iconic city and many crossover characters. Most notably, this includes protagonist Antonio “Toni” Cipriani — players later (chronologically) work for Toni as Claude in the third installment.
Is there a GTA: VCS – Definitive Edition remaster?
There is no GTA: Vice City Stories – Definitive Edition remaster in the upcoming GTA Trilogy package. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition only includes the mainline PlayStation 2 games, not the PSP prequel spin-offs.
GTA: Vice City Stories casts players as Victor “Vic” Vance. As the brother of Lance Vance, a leading character in Vice City proper, users get to explore fictional Miami before the events of the main game. Vic also features in GTA: Vice City, meaning that Grand Theft Auto Trilogy players will go in missing some key knowledge.
It’s possible that Rockstar will release GTA Trilogy DLC containing City Stories remasters as expansions. That’s just speculation, however, as there isn’t any official word at the time of writing.
