Update: Microsoft has added a seventh game to the list of those leaving Xbox Game Pass in the first half of May 2022. Remnant: From The Ashes will also leave the service on May 15 on both console and PC. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Definitive Edition has also been confirmed to be leaving on May 10, five days earlier than the rest.
Original Story:
We’re still waiting for Microsoft to announce the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass this month, but the Game Pass app has already revealed those that will be leaving the service at the start of May 2022. Six games are due to leave Xbox Game Pass before the middle of May, including Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.
What’s leaving Xbox Game Pass in May?
The majority of the games will be leaving Xbox Game Pass on May 15, 2022. Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Steep, The Wild at Heart, Enter The Gungeon, and The Catch: Carp & Coarse Fishing will all be removed from consoles. With the exception of Steep, all of the games are also available on PC and will be removed from this platform at the same time.
Games may start being removed slightly earlier than May 15. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Definitive Edition is also scheduled to leave Xbox Game Pass, but this game was added to the list on the Xbox Game Pass app a couple of days earlier than the rest, suggesting it may leave before the others. The game joined the service upon its release on November 11, 2021, so if it is on a six-month contract then it could be leaving on May 11.
If Microsoft follows its usual schedule, we can expect to hear about upcoming Xbox Game Pass games tomorrow. There are already plenty of titles we know will be launching into Game Pass on day one. Loot River will launch on May 3, while both Citizen Sleeper and Trek to Yomi will be released on May 5. A few days later, This War of Mine: Final Cut and Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising will be added to the service on May 10. There are also rumors that Battlefield 2042 and FIFA 22 will be added to EA Play on May 5, therefore also being available as part of Xbox Game Pass.
In other news, spoilers and leaks for the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness movie have found their way onto the internet ahead of its release, so beware when navigating the world of social media. Elsewhere, rumors of a new Deus Ex game began circulating due to Embracer’s takeover of Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics, but it turned out to be a comment taken out of context.
