Back 4 Blood voice chat is recorded and players are concerned

The Back 4 Blood voice chat is recorded, apparently, and players are greatly concerned about this fact. The Back 4 Blood chat function is having enough problems as it is just working, but a message that pops up as the game is loading up is upsetting players with its implications — as the game apparently records all voice chat said during the game, apparently for “moderation” purposes.

Why Back 4 Blood voice chat is recorded

Back 4 Blood voice chat is recorded

According to the message that appears at the beginning of Back 4 Blood, the game records all voice chats for “moderation, user safety, and to operate and improve the services.” There is no opt-out policy for players to choose from, as using the voice chat function in Back 4 Blood is taken as agreement to the policy.

Regardless, this decision has upset or concerned a lot of players online, with numerous negative comments across social media. While many are fine with Turtle Rock and Warner Bros doing this for moderation reasons, such as to stop abuse over chat, the main concern seems to be about a big company like Warner Bros using any personal data collected for less than altruistic reasons. There are many users who are uncomfortable with big corporations listening in on private conversations, as Sony discovered last year when it suggested the PS5 would record voice chat.

Regardless, for the moment if any players use the public voice chat function in Back 4 Blood they should be careful what they say, or use a more private chat program for team communication, such as Discord. This isn’t the only problem fans are having with Back 4 Blood right now, either. Solo players feel like they are being deliberately left behind, and the lack of any campaign versus mode in Back 4 Blood has upset a lot of Left 4 Dead fans hoping for a similar experience.
