KFC Back 4 Blood cheap copy

KFC Gaming calls Back 4 Blood a “cheap copy” of Left 4 Dead, Turtle Rock responds

The most unexpected Twitter argument yet cropped up today, as Back 4 Blood is at loggerheads with KFC Gaming. Yes, you read that right. The fast-food chain’s gaming offshoot is in a Twitter feud with the co-op zombie game. It’s one of the more unexpected arguments we’ve seen this year. Join us in looking at how this random conflict started — and why KFC Gaming might be in the wrong.

KFC Gaming and Back 4 Blood Twitter feud explained

KFC Gaming Back 4 Blood

The KFC Gaming and Back 4 Blood Twitter beef all started at lunchtime on Tuesday (October 12). KFC Gaming posted this inflammatory tweet, accusing Back 4 Blood of copying Left 4 Dead.

The key flaw in KFC Gaming’s argument is that Turtle Rock Studios made both Left 4 Dead and Back 4 Blood. Yes, it seems someone at KFC HQ has their facts mixed up – as rather than a carbon-copy, Back 4 Blood is more of a spiritual successor. As such, it seems like KFC Gaming’s entire argument — that Back 4 Blood ripped off Left 4 Dead — is based on a false assumption.

Of course, Turtle Rock Studios, who made both games, didn’t sit down and ignore the tweet. No — several hours later, they replied with this.

It’s a clever retort, mocking the classic KFC slogan while also affirming their status as the producers of both franchises. Interestingly, KFC has yet to delete the original tweet, or respond to Turtle Rock. As such, it currently stands that Turtle Rock are the victors, as they seem to have silenced the criticism of KFC Gaming.

Of course, we wouldn’t be surprised if this is all one big practical joke. The KFC Gaming account is constantly posting gaming memes and referencing industry in-jokes. As such, you’d expect them to have checked their facts before calling out Turtle rock. It could easily be a plot to give both accounts some social media traction. Only time will tell, as we wait and see if either profile continues their war of virtual words.
