Tormented Souls is an impressive homage to the classic survival horror genre, though many Xbox Series X|S players wouldn’t know that. This indie gem is terrifying Xbox owners in all the wrong ways; namely, the game is unplayable for users that don’t power cycle their console after downloading it. The Tormented Souls Xbox controller not working bug is a weird one, so strap in for the latest on the broken main menu glitch.

Here’s how to solve the Tormented Souls unresponsive main menu on Xbox bug:

  1. Download Tormented Souls completely.
  2. Once installation is complete, hold down the Xbox power button for several seconds.
  3. Alternatively, hold the Xbox button on the controller and then hit the “Restart console” option.
  4. When power is back on, launch the Tormented Souls application.

Fortunately, fixing the Tormented Souls Xbox button input issue is quick and easy. The developer, Dual Effect Games, is currently hard at work to launch a new patch for the Xbox platform. In a somewhat bold move, the team came out and said that the in-game issues are “due to the rushed launch of the Xbox version” of Tormented Souls. While this transparency is arguably commendable, some paying customers understandably don’t appreciate the revelation.

Hopefully, the Tormented Souls Xbox Series X|S update won’t take long to arrive. Dual Effect said that the patch is coming in a “matter of hours,” though that was yesterday and there’s been no further communication since. It’s worth noting that the platform holder — Microsoft, in this case — can be responsible for delays, however.

Once the Xbox version is in better working order, it’ll almost certainly be worth a play for fans of the genre. Tormented Souls is “the successor to classic survival horror” according to GameRevolution’s Jason Faulkner.

In other news, the Hell Let Loose console launch is bringing realistic WWII warfare to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S soon. Beforehand, PlayStation 5 owners can try the game via the upcoming open beta — here are the details.
