Sonic Colors Ultimate glitches could get fixed as SEGA promises patch

Players have been reporting many Sonic Colors Ultimate glitches since the game was released on early access for deluxe edition holders last Friday, and even more today now that the Sonic Colors remaster is out on general release. Players have complained about major graphical issues, crashes, and more, with the Sonic Colors Ultimate Switch version being at the center of a lot of it. Now SEGA is promising a patch, but when will that be?

What is the Sonic Colors Ultimate patch release date?

Sonic Colors Ultimate glitches

The Sonic Colors Ultimate patch all the various issues is being promised to arrive “as soon as possible” according to SEGA and porting developer Blind Squirrel Games, but sadly the first patch does not currently have a release date. Hopefully it won’t take too long, as the discourse regarding the game has been more than a little upsetting due to the sheer amount of bugs being reported.

Players have been reporting some truly incredible glitches, including some impressive graphical bugs. There have also been reports of missing effects, music or sound cutting out, extreme bloom or motion blur effects, and Sonic falling out of the map at random moments. There have even been reported crashes, even on consoles, so it’s good that a patch is coming. One of the odder bits of discourse revealed that some of the reported glitches had actually been caused by someone using an emulator, but even then Sonic Colors Ultimate is still in a rough state right now — so it might be worth waiting for the patch before making a purchase.

After Sonic Colors Ultimate, SEGA will be putting a lot of effort into its Sonic game for 2022, which will probably be called Sonic Rangers. There’s also a new collection of classic Sonic games coming, not to mention the movie sequel arriving next year which just cast Idris Elba as Knuckles.
