Gotham Knights Batman

Gotham Knights voice actors may be teasing Batman’s return

Is the Gotham Knights Batman really dead or could Bruce Wayne still be alive? When it was announced at Fandome 2020, Gotham Knights’ Bruce Wayne was revealed as mysteriously dead, starting the events of the game and the Bat-family picking up Batman’s slack — but as per comic book lore, unless there’s a body the character isn’t dead. Now a couple of Gotham Knights voice actors seem to be strongly hinting at Batman’s return in the game, perhaps even as an antagonist.

Is the Gotham Knights Batman still alive?

It is looking likely that Batman/Bruce Wayne is still alive in Gotham Knights, as two new teases from the game’s voice actors seem to suggest. This week brought the confirmation that Gotham Knights and Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad game would be shown at the next DC Fandome in October. To celebrate, the official Twitter account posted an image showing a masked member of the game’s villains the Court of Owls. All very cool, until Gotham Knights’ Nightwing/Dick Grayson voice actor Christopher Sean replied with the hint that the character was actually Bruce Wayne.

It seems unlikely that any other character from the game would look “familiar” given there’s only been a handful of characters revealed for Gotham Knights so far, and none of the others would be a surprise. The mystery deepened thanks to Gotham Knights’ Bruce Wayne actor Michael Antonakos, who posted a short video of himself on Instagram in a recording studio wearing a Gotham Knights T-shirt. If Batman is dead, then there shouldn’t be any need for his voice actor beyond the opening cutscene.

It seems likely that Gotham Knights will get further teases between now and DC Fandome on October 16, as WB Montreal has a habit of doing exactly that. Regardless, fans will find out more in October, along with presumably some more gameplay footage and maybe a release date. Even if Batman isn’t back in Gotham Knights, it’s looking likely that the Fandome event will also reveal that he’s coming back to Fortnite in a tie-in with next year’s The Batman movie.
