Spider-Man No Way Home Sinister Six

Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer may have confirmed the Sinister Six

A full Spider-Man: No Way Home Sinister Six appearance may be on the cards for the Spider-Man movies at last, as the new trailer seems to tease at least five members of the major Marvel supervillain team. Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) is the most obvious as the only supervillain to directly show up in person, as is Green Goblin, but is there a Spider-Man: No Way Home Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard appearance too? If so, who is the sixth member?

Spider-Man: No Way Home Sinister Six confirmed?

Spider-Man: No Way Home Sinister Six

The Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer seems to directly tease multiple major Spider-Man villains, including several characters who had been hinted at through various leaks and rumors. In total, five big villains possibly appear in the trailer, all of which have been members of the Sinister Six in the comics. Here are the members of the Sinister Six who appear in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer:

Green Goblin

While not a direct appearance, a Green Goblin bomb is thrown onto the highway seen multiple times in the trailer, alongside a laugh that sounds a lot like Norman Osborn (Willem Dafoe) from the first Spider-Man movie. The design of the bomb is the same, too. It’s also possible that it could be Harry Osborn instead, as the character becomes Green Goblin in both Spider-Man 3 (James Franco) and Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Dane DeHaan).

Doctor Octopus

The only villain to make a full appearance is Otto Octavius/Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), returning just as he looks in Spider-Man 2, complete with similar arms. Again, this is on the same New York highway, immediately suggesting that he is teaming up with Green Goblin.

Electro

Yellow lightning can be seen at a couple of points in the trailer, including in the center of a whirlwind. Given that Jamie Foxx has long been confirmed as returning in No Way Home to the role of Electro, last seen in Amazing Spider-Man 2, it seems likely this is him. What’s more curious is that Electro’s lightning in Amazing Spider-Man 2 was blue, whereas this is yellow like in the comics — suggesting this may not be that version of Electro.

Sandman

In the same picture above, a large cloud of sand seems to be engulfing Spider-Man in his new black and gold suit. In fact, the cloud seems fairly humanoid, strongly suggesting this is Flint Marko/Sandman teaming up with Electro.

The Lizard

Just after the appearance of Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) in the trailer is a moment where something large brushes up against Peter Parker (Tom Holland) in the darkness. Fans believe this to be Curt Connors/The Lizard, who appeared in the Sam Raimi movies but only became Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man.

The Sixth Member?

There are multiple possibilities for the final member of the Sinister Six. If Mysterio/Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal) is still alive he would be a thematically great choice, as he claimed to be from the multiverse in Far From Home. Alternatively, Scorpion/Mac Gargun (Michael Mando) had a brief appearance in Homecoming and is a regular member of the team in the comics, so he would be good too.

Spider-Man: No Way Home opens on December 17 and on Disney Plus at a later date.
