GTA 5 Expanded and Enhanced free upgrade

GTA 5: Expanded and Enhanced will run at 4K and 60 FPS on PS5

GTA 5 is heading to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S this November, boasting all-new features and content. Perhaps the biggest upgrade, however, is the jump to 4K and 60 FPS on PS5. According to PlayStation Blog Germany, the next-gen version of Grand Theft Auto V outputs in “crisp 4K resolution” at a “smooth 60 FPS” performance. With the technical performance and release date now out in the open, fans are left wondering about a GTA 5: Expanded and Enhanced free upgrade.

Is there a free GTA 5: Expanded and Enhanced upgrade for existing owners?

Rockstar Games is yet to announce a GTA 5: Expanded and Enhanced free upgrade for existing owners. Players that already have Grand Theft Auto V on Xbox One and PS4 may need to purchase, download, and install the game again on Xbox Series X|S and PS5.

Although many games now offer a free next-gen upgrade path, it’s still far from guaranteed. Additionally, Rockstar didn’t make the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 ports of GTA V free for owners of the original Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Keeping that in mind — plus considering that it would probably be utilized as a marketing tool — Grand Theft Auto 5: Expanded and Enhanced is likely to be a premium product and not a free download.

Naturally, the German PlayStation Blog only makes mention of the game’s performance on PS5. As such, it remains to be seen whether the GTA 5: Expanded and Enhanced Xbox Series X version will also feature 4K resolution at 60 FPS performance. The Xbox Series S version almost certainly will not, however.

In other news, the controversy surrounding Blue Box Studios’ Abandoned continues. Despite saying that the dedicated PS5 app would go live yesterday, players are still receiving the “check back soon” error. Elsewhere in entertainment, Idris Elba is in the new Sonic movie. One of the biggest Batman characters also just came out as bisexual.
