UPDATE: Blue Box has tweeted about the Abandoned ‘check back soon’ error, saying that there is a “technical issue with the delivery of the patch” and that the studio is working to get it live “ASAP.”

The Abandoned ‘Check back soon’ error is preventing players from accessing the PS5 reveal of the mysterious game, with players not being able to access its ‘Realtime Experience’ app. Given that many have been waiting with bated breath to see if this is the fabled Silent Hill reveal — despite Blue Box repeatedly stating that it has no affiliation with license-holder Konami — the app being offline on the day of its launch has caused many headaches. So is there any way to run the Abandoned app and avoid this annoying message?

The Abandoned Realtime Experience app will only be accessible if you have properly updated the game. The app should be available to play right now given that it is past the time when it was revealed, though it still isn’t online at the time of this writing.
To download the new patch, players should be close the game on PS5 and then select “check for update.” If the game is already updated to the latest version, then it will inform you that’s the case. However, if the update has been made available to you, your PS5 will start downloading the new update and you will be able to access the app.
However, it seems that this fix isn’t working for anyone right now, with players not being able to access the Realtime Experience app altogether. Users have pointed out that updates are sent to PlayStation servers where they need to be certified, which could be causing the delay:
FYI, updates are sent to PS servers where they certify them and then set a time for release given by the dev. Updates through PSN don't have issues unless PSN is down and currently it is working fine. This is definitely a part of the marketing.

With many speculating that Abandoned is a secretive Silent Hill project from Hideo Kojima, there is a lot of excitement surrounding the release of the app. However, developer Blue Box has repeatedly stated this isn’t the case in an effort to temper expectations (despite seemingly teasing the connection multiple times previously).
Either way, horror fans want to know exactly what Abandoned is, with this app set to provide more clarity. Make sure you download the update to see for yourself.
