Pokemon Unite update adds Gardevoir and fixes Charizard

New Pokemon Unite patch notes have gone live following a brand new update, which has also seen Gardevoir being added to the Nintendo Switch MOBA. The patch notes detail what’s included in this new update, and while there aren’t the buffs and nerfs some players were expecting, there are at least some general fixes as the game looks to iron out its teething issues.

The full patch notes for the new Pokemon Unite update are as follows:

  • Bug Fixes
  • Text Fixes
  • Shop Updates
  • Bug Fixes: Charizard

They’re not exactly exhaustive, then, but it does at least fix an ongoing problem with Charizard after players discovered that the Muscle Band did not work as intended when equipped to the fire Pokemon. Given that held items can be game-changers — for better and for worse, considering the alarming pay-to-win elements of the MOBA — this issue ensured that Charizard wasn’t a viable pick. That should no longer be the case.

This isn’t a substantial update, though players should expect some larger changes down the line. With its development team requesting that players fill in a survey ahead of future changes, it seems that they’re likely going to respond to community feedback to keep the online game popular. Many will be hoping that this includes nerfs to the held items and a change in how paid items currently dictate their success in the game.

The update hasn’t brought with it any new Holowear, despite new skins having been datamined in the game’s files. It’s unclear when developer TiMi Studio Group plans to release new skins, with it instead focusing on the Gardevoir release for this particular patch.

In other news, Fortnite has added a mysterious countdown to its pre-game lobbies hinting at the next live event, which may or may not involve Ariana Grande. Okami was also announced for Monster Hunter Rise this week.
